on-site support
Volunteers will be present at venues to help visitors access their events safely, identified by their pink festival lanyards. There will be ‘Hidden Disability’ stickers available at check-in for you to wear if you would like to be supported by volunteers throughout the day.
mobility impairment venue access
Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club has two mobility carparks near the the main building. The building can be accessed via wheelchair by the smooth concrete ramp on the left side of the building. The front entrance glass double doorway is 2.2m wide. There is an accessible toilet at the rear of the main room that is sign-posted. A hearing loop can be made available if requested. Festival volunteers will be available to assist everyone with their mobility needs requests on the day however do contact as prior so we can be sure to support your individual requirements.
Anglesea Art Space has a mobility carpark in front of the venue. The building can be accessed via wheelchair by the smooth concrete pathway. The front entrance glass door is 1.2m wide. There is an accessible toilet accessed via the pedestrian pathway across the street. Festival volunteers will be available to assist everyone with their mobility needs requests on the day however do contact as prior so we can be sure to support your individual requirements.
Quiet areas
Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club has a a designated ‘quiet area’ both downstairs (lift accessible) or on the outdoor deck. Please BYO noise cancelling headphones or some will be made available on the day.
Anglesea Art Space is a low-lit quiet space which the environment monitored by our onsite volunteers. The exception for this is during our scheduled children’s art events as per our illustration exhibition program.
transport & taxis
Travellers Aid
Travellers Aid provides free services to people with disability at five service sites at Geelong, Southern Cross, Flinders Street, Ballarat, and Seymour Railway Stations.
Services at Geelong Railway Station include connection assistance, personal guidance, wheelchair assistance, and travel companion. Learn more at Travellers Aid - Geelong Station website.
Accessible public transport
Some V/Line & McHarry’s bus services in the Surf Coast are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair accessible services require reservations at least 24 hours in advance. For bookings and more information, including size and weight restrictions, contact V/Line or McHarry’s.
There are a number of services and supports to enable everyone to feel more confident in using public transport. For information about accessible transport in Melbourne and Victoria, visit the PTV website.
Accessible taxis
Geelong Taxi Network has a Special Services team and a fleet of cabs dedicated to providing transportation services in Geelong and the surrounding Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast regions for people with disability including NDIS participants and those requiring wheelchair transport. Concession tickets
Lower cost base tickets are available for students and concession card holders. Please ensure you have accreditation with you at the event.
Assistance animals
All festival venues welcomes assistance animals at our events. Please ensure you have accreditation with you at your event.
Digital recording and on-line events
The event 1 program will be recorded and a digital link emailed post-event . There are also many accessible on-line events to attend. Please refer to relevant event page.
Health Precautions
If you suspect you have COVID or the flu, test positive for either, or exhibit symptoms, we urge you to stay home to protect the health of others. You will be able to access the program digitally for up to 30 days post-event.
